Low-density niobium alloy is a niobium-titanium-aluminum-chromium alloy and is a good functional structural material. Niobium-tungsten alloy and niobium-hafnium alloy are affected by the high-temperature oxidizing atmosphere, and obvious oxidation and powdering occurs at 600°C, causing the alloy to fail. However, the low-density niobium alloy is alloyed and modified internally, and the composition of Ti and Al increases significantly , the alloy’s anti-oxidation ability is increased, and the service temperature can reach more than 900°C without anti-oxidation coating protection. At normal temperature, Rm≥900MPa, Rp0.2≥850MPa, room temperature elongation ≥14%, at 1100℃ Rm>80MPa, Rp0.2≥70MPa, it has antioxidant function in the atmosphere below 800℃, and is different from other tantalum above 800℃ , niobium, molybdenum, and tungsten are also easy to oxidize as high-temperature refractory metals. They have good high-temperature strength, processing plasticity, and low-temperature oxidation resistance. The use temperature range is 1100~1300°C.

Low-density niobium alloy has good high-temperature mechanical properties: (1) low density, 6.0~7.0g/cm3; (2) good plasticity and easy processing, A>14%; (3) high medium-temperature strength, Rm at 1100°C ≥80MPa: (4) Good welding performance, easy to weld titanium alloys and high-temperature saw alloys; (5) Low price, lower than niobium-hafnium alloy C103, niobium-tungsten alloy Nb521, etc. Combining the density characteristics and high-temperature properties of low-density niobium alloys makes it a major lightweight and high-strength high-temperature structural material.
